PEREGRINES RETURN TO SQUARE CHURCH SPIRE

Peregrine Falcons have returned to nest in the Square Church spire that overlooks The Piece Hall and have been spotted by visitors who have flocked to the Heritage destination over the Easter break.

The large, powerful birds have been frequent inhabitants at the spire for over ten years, returning most years to bring up their young. They can be seen circling high above The Piece Hall’s courtyard and flying in and out of the two holes just above the windows on the west side of the spire.

Local bird watcher, Andy Beattie, captured some brilliant shots of the feathered visitors. See gallery below.
